In its earlier stages it can be successfully treated, but once the disease progresses into the advanced stages it can only be controlled by periodic gum treatment (commonly known as Deep Cleanings), which means that it is irreversible. • Cosmetic Dentistry Nowadays patients value not only good, professional service but also the opportunity of having natural looking teeth. Implants are small titanium cylinders coated with substances that aid in the initial attraction to bone that are surgically placed to replace the roots of missing teeth. When there is some tooth missing, the rest of the teeth have a natural tendency to migrate erupting out of the jawbone, process known as supraeruption, in order to make up for the spaces in your mouth. Supraeruption can cause bite problems, misaligned teeth and even bone loss. Treating this condition can sometimes be complex; this is why it is recommended to replace missing teeth quickly. Implant surgery offers the advantage of a natural looking, functional smile since the implant is placed directly into your gum, feeling and looking like your own lost tooth. The consultation process for implant surgery is basically made in just one visit. During this initial visit, we will ask you about your medical and dental history, we will complete a thorough oral examination and we will take X-rays of your remaining teeth and bone, intraoral photographs and impressions of your remaining teeth. The dental team will use this information to formulate a treatment plan which will be discussed with you. Implants can also be used as part of a treatment plan that includes bridges or dentures. This has its own advantages since the prosthesis is attached to the implant where it stays firmly secured allowing the patient to talk out loud or quickly... while eating or speaking. It is definitely more comfortable and functional; there will be no more difficulty while eating or speaking, no more uncomfortable loose. |
